Demographic questions help to determine which factors may influence a respondent’s answers. Collecting demographic information will enable you to filter answers according to different respondent groups and to see how responses vary between these groups.
Depending on a survey, typical demographic questions may include:
- age
- geographic location
- field of work
- organization
Typically the best question element for demographic questions is single choice element, in which a respondent can only choose one of the options. If you want to allow the respondent to choose more than one option, you should use a multiple choice element instead. Also, if the list of answer choices is long, it is recommended to use a drop down menu instead.
